PPT4Kids to Partner with Non-Profit Holly Creek Star Center to Provide Hippotherapy

May 6, 2013

Progressive Pediatric Therapy is pleased to partner with Holly Creek STAR Center, Inc. to provide its Palm Beach County clients Hippotherapy services with licensed speech, occupational, and physical therapist. Founded by PPT4Kids’ Speech and Language Pathologist, Carole Walker, Holly Creek is a 501c3 non profit organization located in Loxahatchee, Florida.

During Hippotherapy, the therapist uses the horses movement as a tool to facilitate therapy outcomes. The goals are therapy directed, such as improved balance, coordination, posture, fine motor control, improved articulation, improved language skills, and improved social skills.  The horses movement provides a dynamic surface.  With varying the child’s position on the horse, the therapist can increase the child’s sensory input to the following systems of the body: vestibular, proprioceptive, tactile, and motor.  The unique combination of the horse, the horse’s movement, and a non-clinical environment produces an extraordinary effort on all systems of the body.

Holly Creek STAR Center will open June 10, 2013.  It charges a $25.00 per ride fee.  To offset this cost to families, donations and sponsorships are always welcomed and are tax deductible. You can help by going to the following two links:
